The Lazarus Project: Restoring Life to Ancient Vessels

In the Lazarus Project, I explore the potent idea that great potential is often stored within broken forms. This series is an act of artistic resurrection, focusing on the restoration of old, discarded West African masks.

Each piece involves meticulously bringing an ancient mask back to life, then merging it with the portrait of a real face. This fusion creates a powerful dialogue between the "old ways" of the ancient past and contemporary identity. Inspired by the biblical story and West African heritage, the work speaks universally of new life, hope, and radical transformation—a visual metaphor for moving from darkness to light.

This project is a passionate endeavor to release the stories and spirit held within these flawed yet sacred vessels.
